Discover the epic true story of eight siblings, the grandchildren of slaves. They were born on a farm in South Carolina, migrated to New York between 1918 and 1923, and became prominent in the 1940s. Theirs was a journey to overcome adversity in the north and the south while finding strength in faith, family and tradition.
Author Pamela Wilson notes that God guided her in creating this novel. For years she had been fascinated by her mother's impromptu stories of family history and began sporadically jotting notes. She later embarked on extensive family research, which included census records, newspapers, and visits to historic locations in three states. In addition, she experienced “generational memories,” a scientific theory that ancestors’ recollections reside in one’s DNA. Scientists believe that specific memories can be inherited, much like personality and intellect. While writing this story, the author often visualized events she had never been told but were verified by historical records.
Likewise, each person is subliminally influenced by relatives who preceded them, and each life is continuously shaped by ancestral legacy.
“Remember the days of old, Consider the years of many generations. Ask your father, and he will show you; Your elders and they will tell you." Deuteronomy-32:7
